Fillers

Fillers

The most efficient way to increase facial volume is through injectables known as fillers. These injections fill in wrinkles, deep creases and fine lines. They also restore fullness to the face that may have been lost due to aging and gravity. Dr. Rednam is experienced at injecting a variety of fillers that can reverse the effects of time on a patient’s skin and lips.

Injectable fillers are perfect for patients who want a quick fix to the effects of aging. Because most filler procedures take an hour or less, many patients take advantage of this anti-aging treatment on a lunch break, or during an afternoon while their kids are in school.

Procedure

This procedure can help improve the overall appearance of the following:

  • Glabella (skin between eyebrows)
  • Marionette Lines
  • Nasal-labial folds (smile lines)
  • Wrinkled or sagging cheeks
  • Drooping or wrinkled tear trough

Furthermore, fillers may be injected into a patient’s lips to help them appear fuller and more aesthetically appealing.

Before beginning a filler procedure, Dr. Rednam numbs the injection site(s) with a local anesthetic—usually a topical cream. She may also inject local anesthetic into the treatment area to reduce patient pain and discomfort. She then marks the injection areas to ensure the most visually appealing placement possible. The entire process usually takes about an hour, and results can last anywhere from six months to a year.

Types of Injectable Fillers

Autologous Tissue Injectables: “Autologous” refers to the use of one’s own tissue or fat. Dr. Rednam harvests fat from the patient’s own body and re-injects it into the treatment area after it is purified in a centrifuge. Results vary from one patient to another depending on the body’s re-absorption rate. Two or three of these injections can help to provide more permanent results.

Restylane®: Restylane® is an advanced injectable that contains hyaluronic acid – a natural substance found in the body. Typically, this anti-aging substance lasts approximately six to nine months. Additionally, for patients who wish for longer maintained results, we recommend undergoing a repeat session.

Xeomin®: As your skin ages, repeated expressions can cause permanent frown lines. Neurotoxins, such as Xeomin®, are prescription medications that block the release of chemicals that cause these muscle contractions, and allow frown lines to temporarily soften or eliminate.  The procedure includes a series of tiny injections into designated muscles of your face that are causing the unwanted lines and wrinkles. There may be mild discomfort during the injection, however Xeomin® is very safe. Furthermore, the treatment takes only a few minutes, requires no anesthetic, and recovery is immediate, allowing patients to return to work with no restrictions that same day.

Permanent Injectables: Silicone-based injectables can offer patients permanent results; however, as they are a synthetic material injected into a metabolizing body, they do not come without a certain risk and complication.

Recovery

Recovery for most fillers is very minimal. Patients are able to return to normal activities and work immediately. Some patients may experience redness or swelling at the injection site, but this typically dissipates after a few hours.

Results from injectables can be seen immediately, and last from six months to one year. Patients must continue injections one or twice a year to maintain best results.
