About Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure that can enhance the shape and fullness of your breasts to elevate their aesthetic appearance. Breast augmentation is among the most requested cosmetic breast procedures in Houston, and through them, Dr. Rednam can address several concerns at once, such as asymmetry, poorly-defined contours, a disproportionate appearance, and more.
Breast Implant Options
Dr. Rednam can use a few different types of implants to augment the breasts, each varying in material, size, shape, and fullness. During your initial consultation, she will explain the difference between implants and help you determine which option best suits your goals, skin elasticity and thickness, musculature, and unique frame.
Round Saline Implants
A round saline implant is a type of breast implant that consists of a silicone shell around a sterile saltwater filling. Dr. Rednam fills them after placing them in the chest, which is typical for saline implants. Dr. Rednam may not recommend saline implants for patients with thinner or smaller amounts of natural breast tissue, as saline implants are more prone to rippling (2)
Round Silicone Implants
Round silicone implants are circular and evenly-filled implants composed of a silicone shell and filled with a cohesive silicone gel that can create a perkier, more sculpted appearance. These implants are softer to the touch than saline implants, as their design and composition replicate the softness and flexibility of organic breast tissues.
Ergonomic Silicone Implants
Dr. Rednam exclusively uses Motiva Ergonomix implants when a more natural shape is desired. This is commonly requested by her patients who seek out soft, anatomical and proportional results. These are soft silicone implants with a progressive gel that has been designed to change shape with movement. This adaptation mimics the touch, feel and movements of natural breast tissue.
Candidates
If you are interested in achieving fuller, shapelier, more symmetrical breasts, you may be an ideal candidate for breast augmentation. You may also be a suitable candidate if you are interested in reconstructing your breasts after a mastectomy, to address a developmental disorder, or to correct any trauma. (1)
To qualify for your procedure, you should possess good general health and hold realistic expectations regarding your results. You should also be non-smoking or willing to quit using nicotine. Dr. Rednam will finalize your candidacy during your consultation.
Personal Consultation
Dr. Rednam personalizes each treatment plan, which means that you will need to attend a personal consultation before your breast augmentation procedure. During this consultation, she will meet with you individually and explain what breast augmentation consists of, what surgical techniques and approaches she may employ, and the benefits and limitations of the procedure. She will ask you several questions about your medical history, personal concerns, and desired results. She will also examine your breasts to assess your natural anatomy and take any measurements she needs. Dr. Rednam will then use this information to create a one-of-a-kind treatment plan that delivers your ideal breasts.

Preparation
To ensure a safe, effective procedure, Dr. Rednam will give you a set of comprehensive instructions to help you prepare. She may direct you to:
- Avoid Specific Medications: Refrain from taking any medications or supplements that can thin the blood ahead of treatment.
- Pre-Arrange Transportation Home: Enlist a trusted friend or relative to drive you home after your breast augmentation.
- Arrange Time Away: Prepare to take time away from your professional and personal responsibilities and commitments to give yourself time to heal.
- Cease Any Substances: If applicable, stop consuming any nicotine or alcohol at least six weeks before your appointment, as it can lead to the development of several complications.
Procedure Steps
Dr. Rednam performs each procedure on an outpatient basis at her surgical center. When you arrive at your appointment, she will meet with you to reconfirm each of your desired enhancements. She will cleanse your skin, and then you will receive either intravenous (IV) sedation or general anesthesia to keep you unconscious and comfortable throughout the procedure.
Dr. Rednam will then make an incision to access the underlying structures of your breasts using an inframammary incision placement.
- Traditional Inframammary Incision: This short incision extends horizontally beneath the breast crease and hides any post-operative scarring within the natural contours. This incision placement is Dr. Rednam’s preferred technique, as it allows her to best visualize the implant placement and avoid any additional tissue damage.
Once Dr. Rednam makes the incision, she will create a pocket for the implants to rest in. She may either use a dual plane placement, a subfascial placement, or the Preservé™ technique, depending on your specific circumstances and goals.
- Dual Plane Placement: Dual plane placement puts half of the breast implant beneath the pectoralis muscle and the other half above it. This approach may create a more balanced and fuller result in women with smaller breasts with very minimal upper breast volume.
- Subfascial Placement: Subfascial placement puts the breast implants under the breast but above the pectoralis muscle. This placement is ideal for both women with smaller breast volumes and those with excess breast tissue as well.
- Motiva® Preservé™ Placement: A cutting-edge approach to breast augmentation that avoids severing the underlying layers of your breast tissue. This procedure utilizes specialized silicone implants and tissue-sparing techniques to avoid incising the deeper support structure of the breast, allowing you to increase breast sensation preservation and the health of your ligaments and nerve endings.
Dr. Rednam will then secure the implants to eliminate any unwanted movement within your chest. She will then carefully suture each incision shut before dressing the area. She will then have you rest in her recovery suite until you are ready to return home.
Recovery
After your breast augmentation, you will need to take some time away from your personal and professional responsibilities to give yourself time to heal. It is common to experience some swelling, bruising, and tenderness around the treated areas. These effects are temporary and will subside on their own, but you may also manage them with prescribed medications and plenty of rest. Dr. Rednam will also have you wear a compression bra throughout your recovery, which will help prevent further swelling and maintain your new contours.
You may return to most of your daily activities after resting for approximately one to two weeks, but you will need to avoid participating in any strenuous tasks or activities for up to 6 weeks or until Dr. Rednam clears you to return. With the Motiva® Preservé™ technique, you have NO restriction on your range of motion and only 2 weeks of weight lifting restrictions, making it a faster and less restrictive recovery. She will provide you with any additional instructions for all techniques when she meets with you in person.
Results
You will be able to enjoy the full results of your breast augmentation once any residual swelling dissipates. Your breasts will appear fuller, rounder, more even, and sculpted, refining the overall appearance of your chest and contributing to a more desirable and alluring silhouette. These enhancements may also contribute to a greater sense of self-esteem and confidence overall.
The results of breast augmentation are long-lasting, and you can enjoy your renewed appearance for several years to come. However, breast implants are not permanent devices and you will eventually need to replace them.
Breast Augmentation with Fat Grafting
Dr. Rednam can perform several variations of breast augmentation to accentuate your breasts. Aside from traditional augmentation techniques, she can enhance the breasts with your own body fat instead of (or in addition to) implants.
Breast augmentation with fat grafting uses your body’s own fat to elevate the symmetry, fullness, and sculpture of your breasts. This procedure is an alternative to traditional augmentation that avoids the use of linear incisions and implants by using liposuction techniques to take fat from other regions of the body. This procedure is limited in volume, helping to achieve a ½ to 1 cup size increase per a session for the average woman. When performing this procedure, Dr. Rednam can take fat from nearly any area of the body, including the abdomen, thighs, flanks, and more, leaving these areas more contoured.
How Much Do Breast Augmentations Cost in Houston, Texas, and Draper, Utah?

FAQ
What is the difference between a traditional breast augmentation and Motiva® Preservé™?
A traditional breast augmentation is a procedure that uses implants to improve the size, shape, and fullness of your breasts through several surgical techniques. Motiva® Preservé™ is a new approach to performing breast augmentation that preserves the natural support structures of the breasts while improving the size, shape and fullness of your breasts. The Motiva® Preservé™ technique allows for a faster recovery with less downtime than a traditional augmentation. No range of motion restrictions and only 2 weeks of weight lifting restrictions.
What type of implants does Dr. Rednam offer?
Dr. Rednam offers round saline implants and round and ergonomic silicone implants.
How will I know what the best type of implants is for my goals?
During your personal consultation, Dr. Rednam will converse with you about your medical history, aesthetic concerns, and goals, and she will also assess the natural anatomy of your breasts. Using this information, she will recommend what size and material implant will best benefit your breasts.
How long will it take to recover from breast augmentation?
Your recovery timeline will vary depending on the extent of your procedure and how quickly your body heals itself normally. Many of Dr. Rednam’s former patients are able to return to light activities a couple weeks after their procedure, but it may take longer to return to anything arduous.
Are my breast implants permanent?
No, your breast implants are not permanent, and you will eventually need to replace them. She will recommend a high-quality ultrasound 5 years after augmentation, then every 2-3 years after, which she will perform herself in the office.
