Brow Lift (Forehead Lift)

As we get older, our face is often one of the first parts of our body that starts to show signs of aging, like fine lines and wrinkles in the forehead area due to excess or drooping skin. A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift, can treat these signs of upper facial aging by restoring the brows to restore a smoother, more youthful and alert look. Dr. Rukmini Rednam has had many years of experience to develop and fine-tune her technique for this cosmetic facial procedure. Patients may seek this option for several reasons, including the need to alleviate obstructed vision due to sagging of the skin above the eyebrows, ultimately causing excess skin in the Trusetd Source Checkbox Trusted Source What is a brow lift? The Brow Lift Procedure

Brow lift surgery is usually completed within 1-2 hours and is performed on an outpatient basis, meaning you will go home the same day. Dr. Rednam and her surgical staff begin by placing patients on anesthesia. Depending on the type of brow lift chosen this can be local anesthesia, IV sedation, or general. There are two main types of brow, or forehead lifts: open methods and the endoscopic method.

Open Brow Lifts

These methods range from the use of longer incisions, hidden within the hairline to avoid noticeable scarring, to incisions placed just within the temporal area or directly above the hair of the eyebrows. In all methods, the forehead skin is lifted, and then excess skin is trimmed. After the removal of this skin, Dr. Rednam closes the incision with absorbable stitches. If external sutures are required these are removed in about one week after the procedure.

Endoscopic Brow Lift

For this method, Dr. Rednam places three small incisions within the hairline to create subtle, yet clear, access points for the procedure. She will then insert an endoscopic camera to better visualize the entire inner forehead, just above the bone. Next, she will lift the skin and muscle off of the underlying bone to release the tethered areas that are causing wrinkles, while taking great care to preserve necessary blood and nerve supply. To complete this method, Dr. Rednam then closes the incisions with internal sutures and clips. These are removed two weeks after the procedure.
