Breast Lift in Houston & The Woodlands

There are a variety of reasons that might change the appearance of a woman’s breasts over time, like aging, massive weight loss, or pregnancy and breastfeeding. As we age, gravity and weight fluctuations can cause the breasts to sag or droop, and to lose their once perky appearance. A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a cosmetic breast surgery option that tightens the skin of the upper breasts and removes excess fat and skin.1 This gives patients a youthful, more lifted result. For patients seeking additional volume, Dr. Rukmini Rednam offers several other procedures like breast augmentation or breast augmentation with fat grafting.

Preparing For Your Breast Lift

During your initial consultation with Dr. Rednam, she will discuss your individual goals and medical history to help determine if the breast lift procedure is right for you. This is the perfect time to ask her any questions and voice concerns regarding this surgical option. It is important to understand that every woman’s figure is unique and patients must have realistic expectations about their results. Dr. Rednam is highly-experienced in breast lift surgery and has helped countless women attain the perkier, more lifted appearance they desire.

Breast Lift Candidacy

A mastopexy can be performed in conjunction with a breast augmentation or reduction, but can also be performed as a singular procedure. The best way to know which option will give you the best results is to speak candidly with Dr. Rednam.

The best candidates are non-smokers in good overall health and stable weight. In addition to restoring sagging breasts, this surgery can also benefit patients with tubular breasts, stretched or downward-pointing nipples, or asymmetrical breasts.2 The goal of a breast lift isn’t to add volume but to sculpt the breasts into the shape that the patient has always desired.

Breast Lift Procedure

During breast lift surgery, Dr. Rednam uses her artistic eye to reduce the appearance of sagging breasts and to lift them up on the patient’s chest wall in order to deliver a beautifully restored appearance.

There are numerous ways to perform this procedure. Dr. Rednam chooses which technique to use based on the shape and size of the patient’s breasts and nipples, the amount of sagging present, patient skin elasticity and overall skin quality.3 In addition to choosing her technique based on these factors, Dr. Rednam considers the overall cosmetic goals discussed with her patient prior to surgery day.

BREAST LIFT OPTIONS

Donut Lift: This technique utilizes a unique incision technique known as a “periareolar incision.” During surgery, Dr. Rednam makes an incision around the perimeter of the areola. This is typically most effective for those with minimal sagging.

Crescent Lift: This treatment is another great option for women with minimal sagging. Dr. Rednam makes a crescent shaped incision around the top half of the nipple. She then removes excess skin and fat to lift the areolas.

Lollipop Lift: This is a great technique for women with mild to moderate sagging. Dr. Rednam makes an incision circling the areola and extending vertically down the breast towards the breast crease.

Anchor Lift: For more severe sagging, this lift is a good option. It is quite similar to a lollipop incision, except Dr. Rednam also makes an additional incision along the breast crease, in order to give patients the best lifted result and remove significant amounts of skin.

Breast Lift Recovery & Results

After your successful breast lift procedure is complete, Dr. Rednam and her staff will take care to send you home with the proper bandages and after-care instructions. Individual recovery periods vary for this procedure, as they depend on the type and location of the surgical incision. Follow-up visits with Dr. Rednam will help to make sure the healing process is going smoothly.

The new shape and appearance of your breasts are immediately visible, while the final results of the procedure will appear progressively over the next few months, as swelling and scarring begin to fade and the new position of your breasts settles. To maintain the best results possible, we recommend that patients try to maintain a steady weight, wear proper support, take care of their skin, and continue to lead a healthy lifestyle.4
