Candidates for Circumferential Body Lift Surgery

If you have loose or sagging skin on your midsection, a circumferential body lift could tighten and contour your abdomen, back, lateral thigh and buttocks. Ideal candidates for circumferential body lift are non-smokers who are in good general health and have maintained a stable weight for at least six months.

The Surgical Process of Circumferential Body Lift

Circumferential body lift is usually an outpatient procedure. This surgery is highly customized to address your individual concerns and meet your goals. Typically, an incision will be made very low on the abdomen and across the lower back just above the buttocks. Dr. Rednam will try to place this incision so that any scarring will be concealed by underwear. Patients with very significant excess skin may require a more extensive approach, such as a Fleur-de-lis tummy tuck, which involves a vertical incision down the abdomen. Dr. Rednam will remove excess skin, tighten abdominal muscles, lift the buttocks, and utilize liposuction in order to achieve ideal body contours.

You may experience some swelling, bruising, or discomfort after surgery, but Dr. Rednam offers Exparel, a long-lasting, non-opioid medication that provides three full days of pain management for a more comfortable recovery. You will need to refrain from any heavy lifting or strenuous activity for at least six weeks, but you will be encouraged to walk frequently during your recovery. You will need to wear special compression garments for six weeks to minimize swelling and aid recovery.
