Candidates for Circumferential Body Lift Surgery
If you have loose or sagging skin on your midsection, a circumferential body lift could tighten and contour your abdomen, back, lateral thigh and buttocks. Ideal candidates for circumferential body lift are non-smokers who are in good general health and have maintained a stable weight for at least six months.
The Surgical Process of Circumferential Body Lift
Circumferential body lift is usually an outpatient procedure. This surgery is highly customized to address your individual concerns and meet your goals. Typically, an incision will be made very low on the abdomen and across the lower back just above the buttocks. Dr. Rednam will try to place this incision so that any scarring will be concealed by underwear. Patients with very significant excess skin may require a more extensive approach, such as a Fleur-de-lis tummy tuck, which involves a vertical incision down the abdomen. Dr. Rednam will remove excess skin, tighten abdominal muscles, lift the buttocks, and utilize liposuction in order to achieve ideal body contours.
Recovery After Circumferential Body Lift
Dr. Rednam will discuss your expected recovery timeline and provide you with detailed instructions for postsurgical care. In general, you can expect to have surgical drains in place to help with healing. You may experience some swelling, bruising, or discomfort after surgery, but Dr. Rednam offers Exparel, a long-lasting, non-opioid medication that provides three full days of pain management for a more comfortable recovery. You will need to refrain from any heavy lifting or strenuous activity for at least six weeks, but you will be encouraged to walk frequently during your recovery. You will need to wear special compression garments for six weeks to minimize swelling and aid recovery.
Frequently Asked Questions About Circumferential Body Lift Surgery
When will I be able to return to work after surgery?
Recovery can look different for every patient, but typically you may be able to return to a sedentary or desk job in about three weeks, while patients with more active jobs may need to take up to six weeks off.
What will my scars look like after Circumferential Body Lift surgery?
Your procedure will be customized for you, but most circumferential body lift patients will have a horizontal scar on their lower abdomen and across the small of their back.
